About Craig Rackley

My name is Craig Rackley.  I am a graduate of U.A.B (University of Alabama at Birmingham) with degrees in Spanish, education, and art studio.  I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama.  I am a member of the Birmingham Art Association, (BAA) and specialize in portraits and fashion photography. 

My love for art began with my grandfather.  My fondest memories of my early childhood were when he would sit at the kitchen table and draw with me for hours.  I credit him so much for who I am today, and he is dearly missed.

To me, the most incredible subjects to capture on paper has always been the human form.  The face, expressions, and gestures inherent in the human body have no rivals.  Although I work in oils on occasion, I do prefer pencil and colored pencil because of the level of detail that the medium allows me to attain. 

Thanks to my drawing, I have developed my new passion and career; photography.  I started by photographing models for my drawings and enjoyed the process so much that I have since expanded and am taking pictures for local and national magazines and publications, professional modeling portfolios, and comp card design for various model and talent agencies, and I've recently opened my studio for events as well as traditional and innovative student, family, and individual photography.
